(WJAC) — The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has announced the opening of the statewide 2020 trout season. Officials said the season begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The decision was made in consultation with Gov. Tom Wolf's office, the state Department of Health and the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. According to a release, the immediate opening of trout season is intended to discourage large gatherings of people that may have occurred on the traditional opening day, April 18.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC) — A new bill in the Tennessee legislature wants to change concealed carry laws throughout the state toinclude all firearms. But opponents, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol, are saying the expansion is concerning for law enforcement. House Bill 1005 seeks to change the reference from "handgun" to simply "firearm," allowing citizens to publicly carry semi-automatic weapons. The proposed change raise questions about criminality versus civil liberties. Currently it is legal to carry a handgun through the streets in Tennessee.
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities say a Somerset County therapist is facing charges following an investigation into allegations that she repeatedly sexually assaulted one of her patients at a local youth home. According to the affidavit, troopers received multiple Childline reports regarding alleged inappropriate contact and conversations between 30-year-old Kayla Howard, of Berlin, and multiple juveniles at the Somerset County Youth Aid Home. Police say Howard was reportedly employed at the home as a licensed therapist.
LATROBE, Pa. (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers are holding onto one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history. The team re-signed veteran Chris Boswell to a five-year deal on Tuesday that carries a total value of just over $23 million. Boswell was entering the final season of a four-year extension he signed before the 2018 season. The signing gives Boswell some stability and the Steelers one of the most reliable kickers in the league.
The fire marshal is investigating after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Jefferson County Friday, leaving four families displaced, officials said. According to Perry Township Fire Chief Tim Fetterhoff, crews were dispatched around 4 p.m. Friday to an apartment building along Route 536 in Perry Township. Officials stated that crews arrived on scene to fire coming out of about every window on the upper level of the building.
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania's Bloomsburg University is doing away with Greek life, effective immediately. The state-owned university says it has severed ties with all 16 of its fraternities and sororities, both local and national. Bloomsburg announced the decision on Thursday in a two-sentence email to the university community. Bloomsburg officials aren't saying why they're disbanding the Greek life system, but the move comes after years of problems at the school's fraternities and sororities, including allegations of hazing, alcohol abuse and sexual assault.
